RamPacks Article

April 2019

Donna Huff approached her congregation at St. Paul's UCC with the idea of starting a weekend food program after learning that there are 1 in 4 children in the Pennridge School District who are food insecure. Donna met with Pennridge School District administrators to propose the idea and get permission to work with Sellersville Elementary School to make plans to get started there. 

May 2019

A meeting was held that included representatives from 13 local churches of all denominations who also had interest.  The goal of $10,000 was set to raise before starting with 20 children at Sellersville Elementary.

October 2019

The goal met and RamPacks began at Sellersville Elementary, being served out of St. Paul's where the first food pantry was created.

December 2019

West Rockhill Elementary was added, bringing the total children served to 36.

February 2020

Added a second food pantry at Blooming Glen Mennonite Church and added Guth Elementary bringing our total of children served to 60.

March 2020

COVID shut down the schools, but volunteers delivered to homes every week. Children from Bedminster, Seylar and JM Grasse were added.

June 2020

RamPacks became an official 501(c)3 and formed a Board of Directors.

September 2020

A third pantry was opened at Souderton Brethren in Christ Church. 

September 2021

South Middle school was added

January 2022

Central Middle School was added.

September 2023

North Middle School and Pennridge High School were added, bringing the number of students being served to over 200
